John Adams letter
Photocopy of a handwritten and signed letter. Adams states that a Mr. Young "from Mendon" has been hired to do some work for him. It is unclear if the John Adams in the letter is the same John Adams (1786-1856) who wrote a legal history of New York State. The "Mr. Young" may have been Brigham Young (1801-1877), second president of the Mormon Church. The date of the item is also uncertain.
Joseph Smith, Jr. agreement with Martin Harris
Photocopy of a handwritten and signed agreement dated 16 Jan. 1830 in Manchester, New York. Smith authorizes Martin Harris to sell copies of the Book of Mormon. The item was witnessed by Oliver Cowdery.
Hyrum L. Andrus book drafts
Typewritten book drafts with handwritten corrections. One of the drafts is for Andrus' book "Doctrinal Commentary on the Pearl of Great Price" which was first published in 1960. The other draft is of his book "Joseph Smith: The Man and the Seer" which was first published in 1967. Andrus comments on the Mormon scripture, the Pearl of Great Price, and writes a biography of Joseph Smith, the first president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On the reverse is a statement saying that Davis was brought before a city court.
Simeon Atwood letter to Brigham Young
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 17 Jan. 1863, and addressed to Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon Church. Atwood expresses the need for seed and equipment until after the harvest.
John M. Bernhisel letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 18 Aug. 1841, composed in New York, and addressed to Joseph Smith, first president of the Mormon Church. Bernhisel writes concerning the purchase of land in Nauvoo, Illinois.
Stephen Elder bill for Joseph Smith, Jr.
Handwritten bill from Stephen Elder to Joseph Smith, first president of the Mormon Church, for goods sold to Smith in March-July 1840, apparently for sale in Joseph Smith's store. The manuscript includes three entries for tobacco. The item was filed against Smith's estate on 27 May 1846, with a total of $2.89 interest added to the bill.
Biographies
Photocopies of typewritten biographies of Henry Bailey Jacobs and Zina Diantha Huntington Young, along with photocopies of typed and handwritten letters. The items, which relate to family matters and marriage relationships, include a letter from the LDS Historical Department regarding the marriages of Zina to Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, and a letter from the U.S. Customs Court in New York denying the existence of any records relating to a divorce between Henry and Zina.
Joseph Smith, Jr. bonds
Photocopies of handwritten and signed bonds. Three of the items are signed by Smith, date form 1839 and 1841, and relate to purchases of property in Nauvoo, Illinois. The fourth item is dated 27 Sept. 1845 and deals with Nathaniel Whiting transferring property.
